When God’s will doesn’t go according to ours we must be sure that he knows that something better is coming and even in our trials there will be victory for those who trust him. “Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” (Mark 5:36) INV

You have probably come to believe in God because you have attended church regularly, because your parents talked to you about him or because you have a personal experience with him.

If you face a situation in which someone you love is at risk of losing their life, you remember God and run to him, you lay at his feet and you plead and ask for his mercy, to avoid the death of your loved one.

However you prayed, the answer takes a bit to come and those around you say: stop asking… he no longer lives!

What will you do then? What will your reaction be?

Will you remain at the feet of Jesus, waiting until you get your answer or will your hope faint?

What would happen if God’s will does not reflect your plea?

To be able to face these circumstances and many others not mentioned, it’s necessary to know God and have a close relationship with him.

In the past, when Jesus walked this earth, everyone who heard of him and followed him, had the opportunity to learn from him and get to know him. Those who remained close and walked with him developed a close relationship with him and some were even called friends. “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:15 NIV

The people of Israel crying out to God for a king who would free them from oppression. God sent Jesus but they didn’t believe he was sent from God despite all the wonders they saw. Their eyes, ears and reasoning weren’t seeing that the answer to their plea had being granted because they had an idea of who they wanted as their savior. They were focused on material things and earthly power but were never focused in the great spiritual victory they had received. They overlooked the fact that by accepting Jesus as their king and Savior they would have also received the things their eyes wanted to see.

Friendship is a strong tie that in your moment of need makes you trust your friend will help you when you go and ask, because you know his virtues beforehand, even more so your friend has entrusted you his father’s character and thoughts. This gives you the security that even if your need is not small, it will be answered.

Jesus wants to have a close friendship with each one of us and calls us to eagerly await for the answer to our plea. Even if our eyes, our ears or our reasoning don’t see the answer, he wants us to believe in him and not be afraid.

Therefor our attitude during our trials has to be of faith, hope, patience, trust and accepting of God’s will and not our own. We must trust God knows what’s best for us and recognize that his thoughts aren’t like ours, he only wants us to have peace during our trials and at the end of it we can be victorious in Jesus Christ. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Jairus attitude, one of the synagogue’s leader that had come to Jesus asking for help in healing her daughter, was pleasing to God because even though news was brought to him that his daughter had died, he didn’t believe what everyone said, he was next to he who could do it all, he knew there is always hope in Jesus.

When God’s will doesn’t go according to ours we must be completely sure that he knows that something better is coming and even in our trials there will be victory for those who trust him. He sees the road we must take to know him, serve him, to become his friends, we must allow him to guide us through a safe road that will lead us to eternal life with him. So, while we wait let’s not forget to thank God all the time and wait for his time and will to pass.

Whatever your need might be or mine, even if we don’t see an answer to our prayer, our attitude should be of complete trust and do what his word calls us to do: “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” Mark 5:36 NIV

Remember…
“Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
