19 Cuida de TiBecause no one can take care of yourself, above all things you must take care of yourself.

We live in a time where what we lack the most is “time”. Just like the day comes it goes and it’s night again, in the same way months and years pass by and if we don’t look after ourselves some part of our body will make us know. In other words, we are eagerly living our daily life to the point we forget about ourselves.

If we slow down a bit and think about what we do day by day we might see we aren’t taking time to take care of us. Most of us have people who depend on us, be it family, if we have it, or others whom God has placed in our path so we can be a blessing. This is why we must make an effort to care for ourselves, spiritually and physically. We can’t do one and forget the other, they go hand in hand. A sickly body can’t handle a spiritual situation as well as a healthy one.
However a healthy body will be more able to handle the activities necessary to achieve a greater spiritual level.
Humans are made of body, soul and spirit. It is our duty to take care of the three. If you find you haven’t been doing so, start now before it’s too late.

True care starts from within, with what we don’t see: our soul, our spirit, our mind and our heart. Starting here we must recognize the things that hurt us and avoid them to be well. It doesn’t matter if you are a kid, youth or adult, we must all be obedient and take care of ourselves.

Why would we take care of our soul, spirit, mind and heart?
Because we are responsible of where our soul will end up when we die. The soul never dies but goes to a place of rest to await the time when everyone will be judged for their actions, wether they were good or bad. Therefore it all depends on the choices we make while we live.

While we live we must feed our spirit and the way to do it is by being filled with God’s spirit.
God’s spirit helps us to guard our thoughts from evil ones that might settle in our hearts and minds. With the Holy Spirit’s help we care of our soul, mind and body. Most importantly it brings us closer to God.

God’s word tells us to guard our hearts above all things because from it emanates life. (Proverbs 4:23)

Doing this you will be taking care of yourself and you’ll live a fulfilling life even in the midst of the trials that you might face in life. None of us can avoid suffering while we are in this world, Jesus said: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33)
When we get closer to him and remain there, everything around us changes.

Body

Mind

Vital organs

Part that make up our body

Soul

Gather and administers our emotions

At the moment of death it leaves the body

Never dies, it goes to a place of waiting until

we are judged for our actions

Spirit

Breath of life we receive when we are born

needs to be fed

Upon death, goes back to whom it came from: God

The Bible says: “The one who sins is the one who will die” (Ezekiel 18:20)

The only way to take care of all these parts is following God’s word, the Bible. Set aside a time during the day to read and meditate in his word and little by little get involved in activities that help us develop a closer relationship with God.

We must take action, take the initiative and start making changes to achieve what we want, God will do the rest!

In the same way we take care of our soul we must take care of our bodies, including in our daily life activities that keep us healthy and also taking care of what we eat. As children of God we must take care of our body and soul, that is God’s holy temple.

Let’s remember that there are those who depend on us and if we don’t take care of ourselves we can’t care for them. Even kids have the responsibility of taking care of themselves once they come to that understanding. Before God no one has the excuse not to do what’s good and pleasing to Him. The steps have been given, the choice is ours and our actions in life will mark the way our soul will take when it time to depart from this world.

Even if some won’t acknowledge it, it’s a reality, the soul never dies!
