How do you avoid stress and anxiety while planning an important event? “Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned.” Song of Songs 8:7 NIV
Continuing our study on the stages that mark our relationship with God through his son Jesus Christ and according to the book of Songs…
The time of preparations for the wedding
In the majority of times, while in this stage we see the first disagreements, it’s completely natural because we face situations that take us by surprise, situations that we weren’t expecting and that could potentially cause pain or anguish.
At the same time we could face and uncontrollable amount of stress and anxiety that could make us loose our focus that should always be on Jesus Christ.
But Jesus said: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV
Despite the first trials, and even though everything is ready for the wedding, there comes to mind circumstances that threaten our happiness. To this follows a stress due to what will happen when the time for the banquet comes. We can no longer hide our true self, it becomes apparent with each situation.
This sets the stage for us to think that in our daily walk with God we will always face situations that could make us loose our focus in Christ. However, we must remember that everything that happens to us is not more that life itself. There are things that happen in life that are inevitable and we must learn to deal with them with the total assurance that greater is our God, our problems are nothing in comparison. In those moments when reason tells you “No”, your heart must go on, trusting without looking back.
We must realize we are not perfect, therefore we must forgive each other and not let the enemy of our souls take advantage when we are vulnerable. Like it’s always the case a problems doesn’t come by itself, it’s one after the other. If this wasn’t enough our enemy will always want to intervene to destroy what we have built with great effort.
The Bible does not describes it but it lets us know that that couple in love, who decided to join their lives in matrimony had many problems hard to cover up that were evident to the people around them, but despite all of it love prevailed.
“Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned.” Song of Songs 8:7 NIV
This verse clearly shows us that there were many problems but it also tell us that the love was big enough to overcome pain and shame suffered during the bad times they faced. After agreeing to move forward together they would defend their love against everything.
Negative comments from people surrounding them weren’t enough to stop loving who deserves to be loved. Almost every time we face trials and tribulations we will get comments from people that don’t agree with us and might walk away from us, they might not even want to pray for what is troubling you. But our trust must always be in God, awaiting patiently in Him, convinced that what is to come is much better than the small situation you are facing.
Jesus Christ gave his life for each and every one of us, in the process he suffered greatly but he never thought about giving up because his love toward us was, and still is, great. So who are we to stop loving him just because we have encountered a little suffering? And if while walking with God you have been belittled because of the trials you are facing just remember You must trust in Him always.
Never forget it! He will know how to reward your patience and fidelity. He has given us a special place next to him and not only that but tells us that he’ll never leave us alone.
It’s worth loving him because he is love and because of this love he has giving his life so that we have everlasting life in him.
If, while we walk with God, we encounter situations that confuse us and cause us pain our goal must always be to move forward and not lose sight of what we have achieved with great sacrifice, not by our own disposition but by God’s will.
